There may be times when your power is off. In some cases, it could last for days. You need to stay in touch with people and get the local news. If you can recharge your Cell Phone, flashlight, and radio, it would be a big help. You can have help, utilizing the power of the sun.

It might not always be sunny where you live. If not, you may wish to reconsider buying a solar battery charger. These units may not charge as quickly as ones inside your home. Even though they cost little, the price goes up with the power. The stronger units will charge faster. Four watts of power is quicker than two.

There are a lot of uses for solar household chargers. Everything from flashlights to cameras will fit into the category.
You can also get them for your car. Many of these models will work on trucks and recreational vehicles too. They are simple to use in many cases. You simply place it on the dash and plug it into a cigarette lighter receptacle. However, they will not perform Heavy Duty tasks like jump starts. If you want more recharge power, you will need a more expensive unit.
Look for a model that will shut off by itself when fully charged. Some of the cheaper ones do not. You do not want to overcharge your batteries. This could be hazardous. A blocking diode prevents return of current. This will keep your charger from harm. Most of these units have this protection.
There are sun powered chargers designed for huge tasks. Ones for houses need to be stationary. They are also very expensive to install. Unlike the house units, the portable ones are affordable for most people.

Most of these units are rather inexpensive. They are a good idea for emergency use, too. If you live where sunlight is plentiful, you should have few problems. They may charge slower than the household ones. However, their source of energy is free. In addition, their impact on the environment is minimal. They could represent a sound decision for many people. Solar powered battery chargers could be a very good decision.
