What type of thread sealant to use on a Coleman Lantern?
I have a Northstar dual fuel lantern, the valve assembly does have the text. I dismantled the lantern, and have the spare part, but I noticed the old type valve has paste on the threads of a lead into the gas tank. Is it just regular gasoline resistant Lute? I've got some yellow Teflon tape for gas lines. Would this take place? I just do not want the pressure of fuel leaks have forced up by threads, when the lantern and is under.
Hello, You have a great lantern there ... one of the best. Teflon is OK for the gas cap thread, but for the burner valve can get a bit hot. You will receive special ribbons for Hot Stuff, the different qualities, skill required. The paste is heat-resistant sealant for good Fuel burners. It is to buy low, only a small tube will last a lifetime .... To save a gas fitting, automotive shop, plumbing, or general merchant Hardware store. Coleman does not list a sealant supplied with gas conversion kits, but as a separate product. Example here ... BOM Item No. 10 http://www.coleman.com/coleman/images/pdf/ 9992-448_rf.pdf. . . .
