Sit in Sit on Top Kayak vs. Kayak?
Looking for a kayak, but am not sure which model to go with New. Kayaking and looking for a tandem kayak used are lakes / rivers and coasts possible to inter-, recreational use and fishing are not sure which way to go. Solo will not work. Need to either a tandem kayak or canoe go in a canoe (not a big fan of) Need feeder for the family, but preferably, the fishing if possible. Go can model with leisure outfit, but if possible - not just a rod holder. Will you still look cool. Use of lakes - small river and coastal possible under in South Carolina. All help is welcome. Price-conscious so please do not .. Hobie answers. I would love to get one if I could. I can not. Has anyone of Crescent Kayaks hear? If so, I'm looking for real reviews. Thank you very much
I am actually a Splash 1, while on vacation in the Caribbean, leased to a mangrove estuary Tour - it was not bad (although way more slowly and less than all my manueverable closed cockpit kayaks, of course.) Seat and feet position were reasonably comfortable. Would not want to put it in cold water or heavy chop must use when. And it was tiring to paddle and slow, especially when the wind picked up. But I think it would be OK for the meeting and fishing in calm, warm water. The weight for the Splash 2 is pretty good for a tandem boat and it is fairly compact. Can you Based Stay under the 500 # capacity with the three family members? this guy on comparison of the four models: http://www.shortypen.com/boats/kayak/why/index.htm It looks like it would not be the price of a bad choice for you and that is certainly decent (depending on what you nail them in freight transport - I always recommend that people new Kayaks buy try to by a local supplier rather than order online - most shops can match the online prices, sales tax will be less than the cost of freight and you will usually get a discount on the accessories you buy a package, such as life jackets and paddles.) How beamy and high seats than the boat, be sure you buy a paddle at least 240 cm, perhaps even more so when you grow up. And pick up a good paddle, not one of those cheapo metal shaft anchored boat. Go for a fiberglass shaft lean and paddle blades - much easier, less stressful and faster - money well spent. And with the boat, so make sure you do not keep it flat on the bottom (Lean avoid IT on the side or hang it from swallowing too) of oil to the dreaded "can" dent in the hull. As far as "looking cool" - I confess I'm biased, and this "fishing barges" never cool to me (they are parallel to the mini-vans in the car "coolness" category.) You are one step from an inflatable swimming pool, but it's really hard to test, they carried a real kayak (the low, fast, sleek boats like the Eskimos extensions of their bodies to hunt marine mammals in polar waters). look Maybe if you painted and plastic trimmed it like a crocodile or a shark - then it would be cool funky.
