The history of Pepe Jeans
The brand was established in 1973 in London. Its creators Nitin, Arun and Milan Shah began to manufacture and sell custom jeans in a cult nonformal spot called Potobello. A short and significant name was chosen for their trademark. Orientation on modern and fashionable young people was typical for the company from the start. Today Pepe Jeans manufactures denim wear as well as knitwear, sweaters, t-shirts, coats, trousers, shirts, skirts, hats, bags, shoes and fashion accessories.
A characteristic feature of Pepe Jeans brand is a tendency to be ahead of one’s time. The brand’s advertising campaign was one of the first jobs for Kate Moss. Besides, Letitia Casta, Sienna Miller, Natalia Vodyanova, Ashton Catcher, Fernando Tison Balu and Christiano Ronaldo and many other celebrities took part in advertising campaigns for Pepe Jeans. Sienna Miller even designed denim collection autumn-winter 2007/08 by Pepe Jeans. Famous photographers like Bruce Weber, Steven Misel and Mikael Jansson have also contributed to the success of the brand’s advertising campaigns.
The brand’s designers are not afraid to experiment and have a perfect sense of style. The clothes manufactured under Pepe Jeans trademark is comfortable and stylish, giving confidence to the person wearing it. However, it is also modern and challenging, even aggressive sometimes. Pepe Jeans today is a leading world brand manufacturing denim wear for young people of 20-35 in a medium price segment. Two times a year the company presents men’s and women’s seasonal fashion collections based on denim. The models range by Pepe Jeans is abundant on different silhouettes and colors. Denim collections by Pepe Jeans include not only classical indigo jeans, but also green, khaki, olive shades, as well as grey tones, red and pink colors. For thirty years already the brand remains popular and strongly sought-for in more than 80 countries of the world.
The company develops a network of its own and franchising Pepe Jeans shops all over Europe, South Africa, Australia and Asian countries. Today it already has more than 200 shops of its own as well as 100 franchising shops and about 1000 of corners in multiple and department stores.
